Gastric polyps - FAP

I have had total colectomy after being diagnosed with FAP, initial total colectomy with Jpouch done in 1993, yearly exams turned out ok, now suddently in the last year I have seen an drastic increase of the stomach polyps and am developing one every 6 month but a thumb size sessile polyp in the duodenum.  I was wondering why this sudden increase, it is scary the change from February last year to this year.  I did endoscopy Feb 09, it read several gastric polyps,  in October several gastric polyps and we found the first sessile polyp in Duodenum and now just in April, we find innumerable gastric polyps and another sessile polyp in the Duodenum.  the other healed very well. But it is scary to see my stomach just covered. Any recent discovery on how to stop these neoplastics polyp growth.

FAP also runs in our family.  There have been several small studies done on aspirin that have shown to reduce the size of these polyps and even stop their growth.  There are medications that have proven to help with the polyps, just google "duodenal polyps treatments" to access this info.  Although they can become cancerous, they may not, and it is best to take a wait and see attitude with regular scoping to watch them.  I'm sorry that you are enduring this, I know how bad FAP can be.  If you ever want to talk just PM me.  I wish you all the best and take care...
