Gastric

Dear doctor,

I get gastric very often and the pain will not go away with famotidine and i tend to get gastric if i take medications that is rather strong such as antibiotics. When I’m having gastric, i tend to eat a lot as i feel better after eating. Is this a symptom of duodenal ulcer?

I have seen my family doctor and she advise that i take omeprazole.
I asked her if it is necessary to go for a stomach scan and she said I’ll be alright after taking the medication. So is it recommended to have a stomach scan?

hi, first, im not a doctor. but ill try and help you as much as i can. its sounds very much like you have gastritis, your doctor should have referred you to get some test ;ie h-pylori infection breath test, this bug is responsible for most cases of gastritis, if your found positive for it, then your doctor will prescribe anti-biotics along with the omeprazole, its the only way to eradicate the stomach infection, this combination of drugs should be taken over a week or so. then your doctor will leave you on omeprazole for about six months so your stomach linning can heal, if after this time you show no improvement, the they will have you undergo an endoscopy, let me know how you go, cheers.
