Gastritis - stomach problems.

Hi,
Last Wednesday night i suddenly fell ill while out with friends with stomach pain and i couldn't sit down or the cramps and pain got worse. When i got home that night i was violently sick throwing up. The next day the cramps and pain continued and i went to see a doctor. The doctor told me i had Gastritis and gave me medication (Omeprazole) and took my blood. So i have been drinking water and eating bland food like toast since that time as anything else makes me feel nauseous again. So i started taking the medication and I am not feeling really any better. Yesterday i felt like i was fine but i drank a glass of milk and the pain came back again then today when i woke up the abdominal pain was as bad as it was last Wednesday and i was throwing up again despite having ate very little.
I was wondering if this is Gastritis or is something more than that? My blood tests came back normal so i don't know why i am still sick? Does Gastritis last a long time? I originally thought i had gastroenteritis but I'm not a doctor i don't know and what i think contradicts the doctors diagnosis.
