Gastritis

by Mister_B, Aug 29, 2009 05:24PM
Hi,

I was diagnosed with gastritis from alcohol consumption, when I drank a lot and mixed my drinks!  I have a nissen fundoplication operation so I am unable to vomit when I need to.  I was started on 20mg nexium .  Two and half weeks later I was starting to feel better until I unfortunately got viral or bacterial Gastroenteritis (doctors diagnosis) making me very ill for 9 days.  That was a week ago and I was starting to feel better so I stopped taking my  nexium 20 mg because of manageable but unwanted side effects of the drug.  A day later I now feel constant nausea and a headache.  I am assuming my stomach never recovered from the gastritis with my misfortune of gastroenteritis making my stomach inflamed and flare up again?

Does anyone now how many weeks it takes to recover from gastritis? and should I stay on the meds?

Thanks
