Reflux nephropathy
Vesicoureteral reflux disease. She has had severe breathing problems as a result, and was hospitalized with RSV last Christmas. Since then we thought she was getting better. Recently, however, she has started coughing so much she throws up. She is constantly hungry. An endoscopy was performed in October and they discovered she had an abnormal amount of mucous producing cells and an irritated lining of stomach and

Esophagus and stomach anatomy, but she did not need surgery. She has been having great trouble sleeping at night (which has really always been a problem) along with the recent throwing up. Because of this, her doctor now has her on
carafate. She has been on
propulsid since she was five weeks old, and switched to
prilosecPrilosec
Prilosec otc from Zantac at seven months old. I am starting to experience frustration. Although her asthma has dramtically improved since we got rid of our dogs, she is nearly two and is showing no signs of improving. She has had so many ear infections that they recently put ear tubes in her ears. She also is very small and petite for her age. She gains weight slowly but is not skinny-rather average or slightly below - for her age.
: My questions to you are the following:
: (1) Are an abnormal amount of mucous producing cells something to worry about? Why would her body produce more than needed?
: (2) I am concerned about the risks of being on such strong medications: propulsid, 1cc in a.m. and 3cc in p.m.; prilosec, (one 10mg pill split up and taken 1/2 in a.m. and 1/2 in p.m.); carafate-3cc in a.m. and 3cc in p.m. Should I be worried?
: (3) What would happen if she was on no medication at all?
: (4) Should she be scoped again, and if so, at what age?
: (5) What are her chanced of outgrowing this?
: (6) At what age will she outgrow this?
: (7) From the symptons described, is her reflux considered a mild or serious case?
: (8) What can we do to help her sleep better at night?
: (9) What are the risks of cutting out milk at her age?
