Gastrointestinal Bleeding and High Potassium Levels

by Seamore555, Oct 27, 2009 09:26PM
I'm asking this question on behalf of a family member, but I was hoping I could get some help here.

Is there any link between high potassium levels and gastrointestinal bleeding?

About 2 months ago my relative experienced some gastro bleeding and is still waiting on a GI appointment, but after a recent blood screening, it's been discovered they have very high potassium levels.

Can the high potassium be caused by cell damage resulting from the gastro bleeding?

I'm worried the doctor isn't making the connection.
