Gastroperisis

What can be done for gastroperisis?  My friend has been suffering with this for 2 1/2 years and is in terrible pain.

Gastroparesis is a condition in which the stomach doesn't want to propel the food out, into the duodenum. In some people, the food 'just sits.' It's painful and causes a variety of problems. Some people refer to it as delayed gastric emptying. Unfortunately, no amount of probiotics or other decent 'stuff' helps the condition.

Gastroparesis is not similar to gastritis at all.

Have you guys thought about taking probiotics and digestive enzymes? I asked my Gastroenterologist if it was ok to take along with the medication he prescibed and he said yes. I'm trying to educated myself on more natural remedies since recently being diagnosed with Crohns. I also was told Fish Oil or Flax Seed Oil is good for you too. It coats the intestines and nurishes the brain, skin, hair and joints. It's a good source of Omega 3's.
You might want to at least think about the probiotics (it gives you the good bacteria, kinda like yogurt but in a much bigger dose) and the digestive enzymes which is supposed to help you digest and break down foods. I hope this helps and I hope you guys feel better soon.

Just curious, what is gastroiperisis? I know this all has to do with our digestive system. I have gastritis. Is that simular?

Hello,

I have gastroperisis and i completely understand.  Is your friend taking anything to help with digestion of food?  I have been sick for about the same time and it has gotten worse.  I have had TPN line but just had it recently remove due to infection.  I am on medication called Domperidone which you have to get from NY because it is not FDA approved yet in US.  I just had a gastric pacemaker put in November but have not had much luck as of yet.  I weight 84 pounds.
I do take medication for nausea, zofran, compozine.  Doctors told me that pain medication slows you movement of tummy down so I try really hard not to take pain medication.

Is your friend diabetic?

I do eat babyfood and drink lots a gator-aid-
Only eat small amounts and try not to eat fiber.

I am sorry for your friend it is very tough.

Thanks, stacey
