Gilberts Syndrome

by Jessie7580, Jun 15, 2008 10:38PM
I have a question about Gilbert Syndrome. I would like to know the symptoms and what it is exactly. I have been told that I could possibly have this. I am not sure. I was born with what I was told for a very long time was Ceribral Pulsey and then as I got older it has gotten worse. I was told that with CP tyipically your symptoms do not contiune to progess as mine have. I have foot drops, walk on the insides of my feet, have fetigue, have trouble sleeping, hyper extend my knees, panic attacks, depression, stress, muscle tremors, poor motor skills, learning disabilities, back pain, heart issues, hypoglycemia, limited perferial vision, limited depth perception, a stigmatism in my right eye, lack of cordination and very bad balance, weakening of muscles in my legs, the possiblitiy of slight asthema. I have been tested for several conditions such as musclar dystrophy and multipule scoloroces. I have also been tested for Lupus amoung others. I have been turned away by a doctor who said that it was all in my head and then sent to another doctor who sent me to another one.  I now have one who has said I could possibly have a gentic progressive nuerological syndrome or disease. I am wondering what I have and if I should be working full time hours. I am very confused and keep hitting dead ends with people who don't know more than I do.  Do I have CP with Gilberts Syndrome? I keep getting tests with no results and doctors who blame it on depression. I wear AFO braces to help me walk now.  Is there anyone else out there like me?

There is an excellent medical data base called UpToDate that is used by docs to look up medical conditions. At certain times, some of the information is put on the web and one of the entries for Gilbert Syndrome can be found on the web at: http://www.uptodate.com/patients/content/topic.do?topicKey=livr_dis/2223

To my knowledge, the overall symptoms that you present with does not sound like Gilbert Syndrome unless you are showing symptoms of problems with bilirubin.

I can understand your confusion, but it sounds like the docs really don't know what 'category' to even start to put you in. I'll ask around with the docs I know, but I'm not sure if I can come up with more than you have already found out - but it's worth asking. Are there others in your family line with any problems?
