Dear Cristina700,
in feb 2011 i myself starter getting a lot of pain in my tummy area, and i was visiting the doctors many times over this problem., who was giving me pain killers (zapain),  i was thinking this was a wind problem . after many month of this pain and visiting the doctors i made an apointment to see my doctor, and in june he sent me for a scan, at arrowpark hospital, within 12 hours of having the scan i had a recall from my doctors to return back to see him, there i was told i may have cancer of the pancreas.
on the 22nd june 2011 it was confilmed i did have can of the pancreas and that was the start of many tests and scans with 2 hospitals being arrowpark hospital and the royal liverpool hospital . i was in the early-stage of pancreatic cancer. this is when the tests came into play, i had to have a lot of blood tests, ct scans, untrasound scans, mri scans, i was given 2 macmillan nurse;s also one from arrow park and one from the royal hospital.
on the 9th aug 2011 i underwent an Whipple's operation (pylorus-preserving pancreatoduodenectomy) (pppd).
removal of the head of the pancreas, most of the duodenum (the first part of the small bowel), the common bile ducts, gall bladder and the surrounding lymph nodes.
my care from the hospital staff was 100%, they looked after me so well and now im 12 weeks post op, i spent 3 weeks in hospital and im now being closely looked watched over, and im glad to say my cancer was Benign ......
hope you dont mind me writing this but in some way it helps with my healing talking about it all, because before hand each time the doctors were telling me i had cancer i was always thinging the wear talking about some one else, even to the day of going into for the operation ...
god bless to your father and i hope he is well xxx

Mr. Whipple used to be a charmin toilet paper commercial. This guy used to hide in his store to be alone to "squeeze the charmin". It was funny and the actor just died. mr. Whipple used to say "please don't squeeze the charmin", then go hide and start squeezing with a grin on his face, strange and funny! I do hope you father has a successfull surgery . all the best

I think mr. lucky was trying to make you smile. I don't think he was being serious, just trying to put a small smile on your face which is good when things are a bit serious.

There are a number of different forms of Whipple procedure. If your dad can manage to have a modified Whipple in which the pyloric valve isn't removed it might be a bit easier on him. Please make sure he talks about all the different options with the surgeon, although the options will be defined by how extensive the cancer is and what his other organ 'look like,' healthwise.

I dont really know what kind he is having done?  I google it and i saw what it was.  Today he makes the appt for the Day of Surgery.  He has cancer on the Pancreas, that is rubbing against the bottom of his stomach. So the surgery has recommended the whipple.

also. so you know what the comment above means      "No, but I know Mr Wipple had a toilet tissue fetish and just died at a ripe old age. All the best to your dad. "     mr. lucky said that.  what does a toilet issue have to do with a whipple??  Thanks

There's a lady over on the WebMD board (common digestive board, I think) that had a modified Whipple done. You might try posting to 'MultiTasker.' She's not on the board all the time, though.

Is your father going to have a typical Whipple, or modified, or? If this is for pancreatitis, has the possibility of autoimmune pancreatitis been ruled out?

No, but I know Mr Wipple had a toilet tissue fetish and just died at a ripe old age. All the best to your dad.
