by AnaBrazilian, Dec 15, 2008 07:08PM
Hi, I´m brazilian. Please, I need information. My boyfriend of 23 years had to withdraw half of the stomach due to cancer. Today, in the hospital, suffers from an inflammation.
I would like to some information about transplantation of stomach.  It can be done? Where do transplantation of stomach? I reply. Thank you.

At this point in time, the only form of a stomach transplant is when there is a multi-organ transplant such as stomach, intestines and pancreas.

There are a lot of people who have partical gastrectomies such as what your boyfriend had and they do quite well depending on what configuration of 're-hooking up' the surgeon did.

Have they said what the inflammation is due to and how they're going to treat it? That should probably be the next thing to work out.
