HELP PLEASE

I had surgery for a fissure, fistula, and 3 hemmoroids about 3 months ago. I am still in a lot of pain. The pain comes on about 1 hour after a bowl movement. In fact, I was in very little pain prior to the surgery. Now, I am in a lot more pain than I was ever in. I can't do any exercise without pain. It's a burning, aching pain. The doctor told me I would be able to exercise within 2 weeks and be completely healed within 1 month. This has not been accurate at all. In fact, I don't think I am getting any better. Has anyone had a similar experience? What should I do? Thank you for any help.

JayBay - Your friend took how long to recover?  The reason I ask is that for me it's been over 3 months.  The doctor told me 2 weeks to 1 month at the most.  If this is incorrect than I should speak with a lawyer, because I was adamant about the type of work that I do.  I can't do it now because of the surgery.  I would not have had the surgery done, if I knew this was a possibility.  He says I am a rare exception, but if this happened to your friend and to others (taking much longer to recover) then the doctor lied to me.

First, you need to follow up with your doc about these symptoms.  A friend of mine had the same surgery and it took him "forever" to recover, but he DID recover.  You have my sympathy as I realize how awful any surgery "down there" can be to get over.  Please call your doc!

This didn't happen to me.....but it did happen to my mother.  She had hemmerhoid surgery I'd say about 25 years ago and when they stitched her rectum up, they stitched it too much and her rectum hole was now too small to accomodate a normal bowel movement.  She had to go in for another surgery to make it larger.  After that she was fine.  Maybe you should get a second opinion?  I highly doubt the initial Dr that performed your surgery would ever admitt that they screwed up?  Hope you feel better soon!
