HELP

I was just diagnosed with Barrett's Esophagus.  2 weeks ago .  I have low grade dysplasia and am wondering how quick that can turn into high grade or cancer.  3 months I go back in to have them look to see if it is gone.  Anybody know about Barrett's

Barrett's does not go away. It is caused by acid reflux and nothing else. The chance of esophageal cancer forming is incredibly low. They will probably put you on a reflux medicine like nexium, omeprazole a prilosec generic. I am surprised they did not tell you anything when they gave you the diagnosis. You must have had an endoscopy done to diagnose it. Usually you go back every one to two years to have anothe endescopy done to check just to be on the safe side. I have it also and my doctor has informed me that she has treated numerous Barrett's patients and over 10 years none have cancer. Good luck to you and look up info on Barrett's online and make a list of questions for your doc.
