I had a HIDA scan done the other day for some pain I've been having. Now my gallbladder looked fine on the test (per the test giver), and came back in perfectly fine working order. However, there was a part of my intestines that just kept on glowing... the tracer didnt get stuck there and not move just some of it hung around in a certain area (left upper side). He said that it "could" have been like a reflux
thing and that bile can get shot up basically and hang around there. He was going to pass the test along to the reader who will in turn pass the results to my doctor and I will talk to him in a couple days I imagine, but in the mean time I'm freakining out that this could be a mass of some sort.... should I be scared? is this truely abnormal? My abdomen in that area if I push on it sometimes it is tender... not bad pain just a bit tender.
Of course it figures where this area showed up is NOT where my pain is.... just my luck!
You'd really have to know exactly where the dye was 'hanging up' to be able to start to figure out what could be happening. If the tech was talking about refluxing of bile into the stomach (which really wouldn't fit an 'upper left' explanation), that's a problem that a lot of people have. Other people find they have a 'slow down' in the area of the hepatic
