HIDA scan and nausea

I have had discomfort (dull aching pain) in the upper right quadrant of my abdomen that comes and goes along with nausea that comes and goes.  I have had an ultrasound and CT scan (both did not show any gallstones).  Today, I took a HIDA scan and it took almost the full four before my gallbladder showed.  When they injected the CCK, I had a very tight feeling in my abdomen and a wave of nausea that came over me.  As soon as the IV was done, the nausea left.  Does this seem like an indication that my gallbladder function in abnormal?  Or will all patients have nausea regardless due to the CCK?

My doctor administered the second IV very slowly - I beleive it took 20 - 30 minutes, as he said that seems to either prevent or diminish any nausea and/or pain.  Did the radiologist take that long with yours?  If not, it sounds to me that your symptoms are probably normal.  Good luck.

Not all patients experience nausea and pain when they inject that second IV, but whether you have it/don't have it doesn't mean you have gall bladder disfunction either way.   I sure had that nausea when I got it myself.  The lab tech fully expected it and just told me to take deep breaths.  3 minutes later it was gone.
