Has Anyone Had Acid reflux after your gallbladder was removed

I got my gallbladder removed almost a year ago. I never had any acid reflux before except little mild heartburn during my pregnancy. I did not realize i was getting acid reflux until my throat was getting irritated and my ENT said it was not bacteria infection it was from acid. I get acid reflux no matter what i eat or drink now even water causes it. I seen a gastro. doctor and he put a scope in my stomach & first intestines but he did not see a ulcer or nothing abnormal. Has anyone experienced this problem ?

Yes, my Gallbladder was removed 3 years ago and I have suffered ever since with GERD.  The only thing that has helped is omeprazole, but the side effect of diarrhea is horrible.  No doctor will help, they just say if the medication works, then keep taking it and deal with the side effects.  The diarrhea has been so bad that I have to be very careful not to get dehydrated and I have added an anti-diarrhea medication to my routine.  One doctor said it was bile reflux and gave me a medication for that, but it did nothing.  I have an appointment with a new gastro doctor in March and I am hoping for more answers!

I think you hit it right on the head, bile sneaking back in. I was told I have slack in the muscle at the end of the stomach and that I will probably need surgery for it.

When my acid reflux was really bad before my gall bladder surgery, my husband put some wooden blocks under the head of my bed.   This raised the bed up where my head rests.   It helped.

Also, If I stoop over after eating, it can bring on an attack.

Recently, I have had a recurrance of reflux.   I think it started with my eating some pasta that had cheese in it....too rich.    Today, I am watching my diet again.     L.

I've heard of some users who get "bile reflux" after gallbladder surgery.  Basically the stomach valve nerve or muscle  at the end of the stomach doesn't function right and bile can sneak in, causing pain..nausea and acid reflux.

I've heard sleeping on your right side helps and avoiding laying on your left side (because your stomach if I remember right drains mostly to the right) or not laying down immediately after eating for a good 30+ min. helps as well (with acid blockers)

Yes i have alot bloating, gas & sometime diarrhhea with dairy. I have been trying to figure out why this is happening & i found some interesting articles that it may not even be acid it may be bile reflux & the only way to really find out is doing a 24 hr PH test. I still get some regurgtation even with antacids. Plus the long term of antacids can lead to some other health probalems later. I really am so frustrated with this acid relux or whatever it is since i've never had it before.

i too had my gallbladder out a year ago and the acid reflux is huge. none of the otc meds worked. i finally got nexium and cant live without it. heart burn gone. just out of curiosity i also have become quite sensitive to dairy products. i loved milk and cant do low fat so there seems to be a price to pay when ever i have milk or icecream ( diarrhea, bloating pain). do you find the same
