Prilosec otc and haven't had any relief. Last spring, when I was being evaluated by my GI doctor I had an EGD done and was diagnosed with H.Pylori Bacteria. I was placed on antibiotics for 10 days which consisted of Tetracycline, Flagyl, and Pepto Bismol tabs. Could this be a reoccurence of the H.pylori bacteria or can you get gastritis following this type of surgery and will it just take some time to get over it?
______________
Dear David,
If you still have H. pylori infection, it is conceivavle that you have had a recurrence of ulceration/inflammation. The regimen that you took for thr H. p. does not eradicate all infections. Alternatively, your symptoms are merely the result of the surgery and do not indicate gastric inflammation. If symptoms persist, you should discuss repeat endoscopy with your doctor.
