Headache, Change In Bowel Movement, and Gas and Dizzness

I'm a 31 yr male. It all started with a horrible migraine headache approximately two and half months. The next day I was awaken at 5am with horrible stomach pain which turned out to be diarrhea. For approximately three days I had diarrhea . After a bout with diarrhea for three days I then became constipated along which was accompanied by stomach cramps and horrible gas, however i was still awaken by stomach pain at 5am to urinate and then again at 6am for bowel movement which was now mushy feces with ragged edges that sink to the bottom of the toilet bowel. The cramps / gas in my stomach circulated from the left side of my stomach to the mid section of my lower back which was very painful.

I decided to visit my doctor whom felt my the pain in my stomach and lower back were related, so he recommended set an appointment for me to visit the gastrologist for my stomach and pain relief pads for my back. Unfortunately I was unable to make my gastroenterology visit because i was laid off by my employer and lost my health insurance coverage.

Since my visit with my doctor my lower back pain has discontinued and i am no longer awaken at 5am with stomach pain, yet my stool is still mushy with ragged edges and i've noticed that at times after i finish eating a meal (approximately 15 - 20 min later)  i will have stomach cramps. Also, when i wake up at times i will have a "metalic taste" in my mouth.  I will also state that I usually have a bowel movement at 7am - 10am, and gas through out the rest of the day especially at night 6pm - 9pm.

Somedays i will eat a small amount of food and feel full where as on other days i can eat and eat and still feel hungry.

In addition, I've noticed that when bend over to pick something up off the floor / ground and straighten back up i'll have a temporary dizzy spell.

Has anyone had anything like this happen to them? If so, what did you do to make it stop? I just want to have a regular bowel movement.

The dizziness sounds like your blood pressure is not rising quickly enough after you bend over.  I would concentrate on two things, get yourself well hydrated with water, gatorade, orange juice and bananas.  You may be a bit dehydrated which happens easily, especially with diarrhea.  This causes you to lose electrolytes which causes your BP to not rise properly or drop when bending or standing.  I would also eat yogurt enriched with probiotics, which is the natural occurring bacteria found in our intestines that aids in digestion.  Pay attention to see if you notice any blood in your stool.  I think it's an excellent sign that the pain has subsided.  The metallic taste can be from many things like poor dental hygiene, antibiotics to gastritis. Pay attention the what you are eating and see if one food causes more gas than another.  Remove one food at a time from your diet and see if you feel a difference, if not put it back and remove another until you find the culprit causing all the gas.  If after doing all this for 2-3 weeks,  you still have problems then you need to find a way to get that colonoscopy.  If you let them know you have no insurance they will normally work with you on this, lower the cost and allow you to make payments.  I wish you all the best and take care!

Hi mammo ,

Thank you for your suggestions. I've been taking your advice and noticed that my stomach cramps are close to non-exist (the only time i have them is after i drink or eat). I'm still only using the bathroom once a day; in the morning at 8 - 9 am. I have in my opinion good hygiene. Although I no longer have this "metallic taste" as often, I have noticed if I sneeze the taste returns.
