Heartburn, gas constantly. Help?

Well, I tried to post this question the other day and didn't get any response so I thought I'd try again. I'm on Entocort and Nexium for my Crohns and Gastritis. I have almost constant heartburn and gas and it's making me miserable. According to the directions on my medication, I'm not supposed to take ant-acids with this medication. I'm not sure what to do or what can help with this. I'm beginning to wonder if the medication exasberates things. It doesn't seem to be any one food or whatever that triggers it. Just this morning I only had a cup of tea, hadn't even eaten anything yet and immediately I've got the heartburn and gas. I'm really getting tired of this.
Does anyone know what can help with this? Are there any natural alternatives that I can take besides ant-acids that can help? And why in the world do I feel like this all the time? It's starting to get old! I don't know what I can eat or drink anymore that won't cause me to feel this uncomfortable. Please help. Anyone?

Check out www.gicare.com. Once there you'll see a bunch of buttons on the left. Hit the DIET button and it will take you to another list where you can find a GERD diet.

Thank you for writing back. I will check out that website. Can you tell me what a GERD diet is? Thanks!

Have you tried following a GERD diet? It's possible that having no food whatsoever in your system could make things feel worse. Any acid you are producing is just going to 'sit there' and your stomach sure isn't going to like that at all.

Have you checked with your doc about substitutes for antiacids?

I'm not sure about 'natural' remedies, April. There are some decent Chinese herbs that might help but you'd have to work with someone who has some decent knowledge of the subject and both gastritis and Crohn's. There's a site on the web beyondwellbeing.com that I've used in the past. I checked out the fellow who runs it, He's licensed and knows his stuff and he's willing to work one-on-one over the internet if you want to check it out. The stuff my husband and I have used have helped for the purposes we needed them to - but they were no where near Crohn's.

Tea isn't something that's supposed to be 'used' in someone with gastritis I think.

You might want to consider some probiotics to see if they'd help with the gas. They might also give you a bit of a hand with the Crohn's and the gastritis, too.
