Welcome to the gastroenterology community! Helicobacter pylori (more commonly known as h pylori) is very common. Over 50% of people in the entire world have it. He will not necessarily be recovered after the full course of antibiotics. Sometimes it takes many rounds of antibiotics to kill off the bacteria. Good luck.
My doctor says breath test to be unrealiable. Most people have this bacteria inside and this test usually shows a positive result what actually may not be true. The best way to check if bacteria was beaten is to repeat a gastroscopy. Or if ailments stop it is often assumed that bacteria is gone.
