Help me with curing adhesions bowel obstructions

Hi. HELP! I am a 41 year old who had major surgery in 2005 , esophagectomy with colon interpostion that went terribly wrong. They had to go back into the OR a total of 5 times before finally letting me go home after spending well over a month in ICU. Since then I suffer from frequent bowel obstructions. Not only are they extremely painful they come out of absolutely no where. On Mother's Day I had my latest one - I had passed gas and my bowels moved but yet I had a kink somewhere in the intestines. I was told by my GI doctor that I need to accept my fate. That there is NOTHING that can be done. Laxatives will not help me , extra liquids , different diet - there is NOTHING ???
Currently I am taking Nexium to control the stomach acid , MiraLax daily to help me go to the bathroom and I do take a daily extended pain medication. I am being told that even though the pain meds do slow down the stomach - the obstructions that I have are all due to adhesions left over from the surgeries..
THere has to be more that I can do ??? Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I am desperate. I am depressed , I feel like I am walking on eggshells these days just waiting for the other shoe to drop.
I have a gorgeous very active 11 year old that really needs me to be 100%.

I am 42yo with a 6yo old girl.  I had major abdominal surgey for some cysts, surgery was scheduled but what sent me to the hospitol was a bowel obstruction. it hurts sooooo bad. come to find out I had 2 kinks.  Then I come home and 3 weeks later, another one happens. I feel the same way you do, I am so paronoid if I'm not passing gas, If I dont have a BM for one day I am freaking out. I take miralax daily.  I feel like I'm just waiting for it to happen again. I feel your pain, believe me.

Thank you for the information! I have scheduled an appointment for this week to give it a try. In the meantime I am working on a partial blockage right now - hoping it passes soon. Thanks for responding to my post !!

Noelle, if you're open to trying something in the osteopathic field, find someone who is well trained in Barral's techniques of visceral manipulation and see if they can give you a hand with the problem. Many of the techniques that are taught are specifically to allow more movement of the ligaments and connective tissue within the abdomen, pelvis and thorax. You can read about the modality at the barralinstitute.com website. You can also find a list of practitioners. You can also call the institute and talk to someone if you'd like.

Adhesions can be challenging but they can be worked with, but you're going to have to have patience. Things aren't going to change overnight.
