Hemorrhoids in children?

by Telena, Sep 16, 2001 12:00AM
My 12 year old son ocassionally has bright red blood on the toilet paper when having a bowel movement. This has happened several times before. He's not constipated, he does not have stomach cramps, his annus does not itch. He has soft stools. Could this be hemorrhoids?

It could be hemmorhoids. But don't assume anything. Please consult a pediatric gastroenterologist to be certain.

I AGREE WITH ERIK YOU NEED TO GET HIM TO A GASTRO. SPECIALEST ASAP ANY TIME YOU HAVE BLOOD IN YOUR STOOL YOU SHOULD GO TO A SPECIALEST IF NOT A HOSPITAL. HOW LONG HAS THIS BEEN GOING ON? AND HAVE YOU TAKEN HIM TO A DOCTOR BEFORE . IF NOT YOU REALY SHOULD SEE SOMEONE NOW. WE AS ADULTS SEEM TO BE ABLE TO CHEAT ON OUR HEALTH FROM TIME TO TIME BUT YOUR SON BEING 12 YRS OLD I DON'T THINK THAT I WOULD TAKE A CHANCE.GODS SPEED
