Hemorrhoids symptom ?

by almo, Jan 03, 2002 12:00AM
Does someone know if a discomfort in the back (tail bone area) is a symptom of internal hemorrhoids ?

Other symptoms:  external, visible hemorrhoids, no blood

Could possibly be caused by this, but another possibility is a cyst on your tail bone (very common).

Thanks goodadvice, Do you mean a pilonidal cyst ? looking at http://www.emedicine.com/aaem/topic350.htm .. I don't have some of the symptoms (fever, ...) and my wife has inspected the area and can't see anything from outside, ...

Thanks again

Aditional question:

I'been suffering from external and perhaps internals hemorrhoids for two months ? (no blood, but discomfort, fullness, ...) It is normal for an hemorrhoid flare up to last so much time ? I'm following conservative treatment (good diet, baths ...) Thanks for any advice

Almo....Yes those symptoms can be from internal hemorrhoids, and yes they can flare up for a lot longer than that!
You do not say how old you are?? and do you do any heavy lifting or have a job that involves sitting all day??
The pain at your tailbone, is it right at the tip or slightly to one side?
Do you ever get any type of mucus discharge? which can also be a symptom of internal hemorrhoids.
Try exercising daily, by this I mean walking, which is very good for hemorrhoids, and drink lots of water!!
If the problem keeps getting worse, get your doc to take a quick look in there, takes about 10 seconds and answers all your worries!
Good luck with it……..

Thanks again

I'm 47.  I visited my doctor. He thinks it is due to hemorrhoids. And, yes i have to sit all day.  I swim and walk as much as I can. I haven't seen any mocus discharge.
