Hi, I too began having lower abdominal problems (I had GERD) and more recently hemorrhoids. I found that the problems are related. The constipation actually irritates the anus with hard stool, swelling the hemorrhoids. I went to two Gastroenterologists, one incorrectly "guessed diagnosed" me with Celiac Disease, the other stress and recommended I drink more alcohol to relax (I am SERIOUS).  My best advice that I have found is to try probiotics (Pearls) which will help you to digest your food. They helped when I was taking Prevacid for a couple weeks to treat the acid reflux but when I did not ingest I would get incredible stomach pain (my stomach was relying on the probiotics and not my own natural stomach digestive enzymes). So I only use them on occassion. Defecate when you feel the urge, DO NOT HOLD IN as that causes constipation. Sometimes after you defecate you will probably feel you have to keep going but that may be a pseudo feeling from the swollen hemorrhoids so DO NOT STRAIN. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. I too am looking into treatment of my hemorrhoids so regrettably I cannot give you any other advice other than use moist wipes / preperation H after defecate as regular toilet paper can scratch the swollen area and make it worse. Perhaps you should go to a Proctologist as I understand they do the hemerrhoid surgeries and ask them for advice - they should know.

Good luck and feel better,
John

Thank you.  That is just the tip of my problem.  I have stomach issues that starts over a year ago. I had Gastritis and IBS-C.  Been ON & OFF of meds (prazole, omeprazole, prazole plus) but the relief is just temporary.  I constantly belch almost every waking hour, non stop even if i haven't eaten.  I always had constipation.  I had occasional blood in my stool. My stomach growls and i feel bloated all the time. The stomach pains radiates from the center, the left side and recently in the right lower abdomen. IT seems I am carrying a heavy load my stomach. Done EDG & colonoscopy a year ago. the result is gastritis & IBS. I don't know what to do anymore. This is so depressing!!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi, piles or haemorrhoids is nothing but venous plexus (network of veins) in the anal canal. Veins can swell inside the anal canal to form internal haemorrhoids.  Or they can swell near the opening of the anus to form external hemorrhoids. You can have both types at the same time. For permanent cure, techniques like injection of sclerosant, banding, photocoagulation or surgery are done, depending on the degree of hemorrhoids. Here, a General surgeon will help you by examining you and may do a proctoscopy to determine the degree of hemorrhoids for planning management.

It would be best if you see a general surgeon or a gastroenterologist (physician or surgeon) initially for him to assess the degree of hemorrhoids to plan therapy. Regards.
