Hernias after colon surgery
16 mos ago i had 11 inches of colon removed microscopically after diverticulitis. The stainless, stapled internal incisions were sore for months, and a chronic cough made them more so. Over time, I began to have painful catches in my lower abdomen on both sides where the large and small incisions were, and intrusions that catch and are becoming more difficult to push back in, and ache. I assume they are hernias. I am scheduled to return to see the same surgeon Monday . Is he a competent fellow? should I go back to him, or find another? Are there better products for stitching? I hope someone can give me some reassuring advice - i am dreading further surgery, especially without input on theis doctor's ability.
