Hiatal Hernia--again

by mar926, Apr 20, 2009 10:42PM
I had a Hiatal Hernia Nissen Fund. on January 16th, 2009.  I have had continuous problems ever since.  I had atelectisis, swallowing issues, pain.....My surgeon insisted this wias all a normal part of the surgery/recovery process.  I had a follow-up CT scan, which showed a large paraesophageal hiatal hernia.  My surgeon still didn't agree with the radiologists diagnosis.  I followed up with a Upper GI and Barium Swallow--which also showed a  large paraesophageal hiatal hernia as suspected.  I have since acquired a new surgeon, who said that it will need to be taken care of, and to let him know when the symptoms get worse.  I am so afraid to have another surgery--however, is there anything I can do to help prevent the hernia from getting worse?  ie...bending over, lifting?
