Hi. I have been dealing with a, what the doctor says, is a small sliding hiatal hernia found via endoscopy. I feel like the hernia is much larger than the 2cm he saw on the scope. They make you fast 24 hours before scope which tends to make the hernia "slide" down. Anyway, I have learned self adjustment techniques that help push the stomach back down. It doesn't last long on me but helps. The acid burn is control well via Nexium. My main complaint is the anxiety feeling this thing causes in the chest. It raises my BP, causes panic attacks, and conspipation. The hernia feels alot better if i get a complete bowel movement first thing in the morning. Anyway my question is has anyone had a surgery other than the nissen fundo to repair the hernia. I am interested in having mine fixed but do NOT want my stomach wrapped around my esophagus. I'd like for a surgeon to just go in and pull the stomach to its proper position and sew up the hole in the diaphram essentially returning everything to its natural order. If I don't get this fixed soon i'm going to end up on anti-panic meds and probably BP meds(yaay 29 years old swallowing 3 pills a day!). The better solution IMO is to fix the root of the problem. The wrap BS just doesn't make sense to me. Seems like they could figure out something better than that to fix a hernia of the diaphram. Anyone ever have just the basic fix for the hernia and not a wrap job? Thanks in advance!
