Hiatal hernia causing chest discomfort

I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia several years ago. It never caused me any problems until recently. About 6 months ago, I started having a strange feeling in my chest. It felt like my heart was skipping a beat. I had an EKG, wore a Holter monitor, and had a stress echocardiogram, which all came back normal. My doctor says this rules out my heart, so my problem must be my hiatal hernia. I have noticed that about 5 minutes after I feel this thump in my chest, I belch. This is becoming a real issue, as it happens anywhere from 3 to 20 times a day and is quite uncomfortable. Do you think it's possible that my hiatal hernia is indeed causing this, and if so, what can be done for it?

I had similar problems and had fundo partial wrap and hiatal hernia repair- they pull the hernia back down out of the chest and into the stomach where it belongs- then wrap part of the stomach around the stomach- hard to explain- do a search on the net "fundoplication partial toupet wrap" I waited years to do it since I wanted a better insurance coverage- long story short-

I feel GOOD- the recovery time was about 2-3 days - for pain - I didn't even have narcotic meds after I let the hospital- only Toradol-

I returned to work - librarian/teacher assistant 6 days post- op. A little slow but did my job just fine- Do it if your doctor ok's it- it will change your life!
