Hiatal hernia

My grandson was recently diagnosed with a hiatal hernia. He just turned 1 month old and was a gastro baby. They automatically said that they were going to do the nissin surgery. We are not really wanting this. Can you tell me any other options we may have for this? We have not been able to bring him home since birth and are eager to do so but we want him healthy when he comes home. I have looked everywhere and don't see anything else we can do but go along with it but we would like more information about the nissin and other options.
