Hiccup type burp...or belch..messed up burps...

For 5 years i have been suffering with what i can only call a hiccup/belch. Every time i finish food or even when i have an empty stomach i get this hiccup/burp. It sounds like a hiccup but then gas is expelled from my stomach thus giving a belching noice.
It feels really uncomfortable and when im in public i get funny looks as it sounds very strange.

I had an upper GI endoscopy which revealed a very small hiatus hernia, and also my duodeum was scared from ulcers id had in the past.
Also, about 8 years ago i tested positive for Helicobactorpylori. I didnt finish the course of medication (Heli-clear...side effects were very bad)
I was warned that the bug could return if i didnt complete the treatment.

Im not sure what this problem is!!!

i suppose it could be.....

Hietus hernia .....Do you get hiccup/belching from this ???

Helicobacrpylori  Do you get (as above ^^)???

Scaring of duodeum.. ???

Stress ???

I hope you can help.....someone out there must have similar symtoms...?? or is it just me???

Thanks ...PAul

I have had this issue for almost 20 years now.
This developed when I was about 16. The hiccups were very violent and loud. I saw dozen of different doctors about this, and nothing. Sometimes my GP's receptionist would tell me to quiet down in the waiting room. I was told that I scare people. This issue caused me a lot of emotional stress, especially since I was a young, pretty, outgoing girl who basically barked. I tried Orap for Tourettes even. I learned how to make joke of it, but still at 35 when I meet new people I get laughed at on a daily. As I became older I was able to help control them better, but I still excuse my self from meetings and actually go out side to release a "big one" when I can feel my stomach that upset.
What I have learned so far its is coming from once the food starts to break down in the small intestine. So now we are not actually burping its like farting out of my mouth.. with out the stink of course.
About 2 years ago I was being allergy tested again. This time a new development came up. I was allergic to Mold. I was exposed to it in Highschool and now again at a job where the roof leaked. I was Not just allergic to mildew from the shower and the black mold from a bad roof, this lady said the mold that is in yeast.. Candida. She said avoid eating anything with yeast or that ferments. Well come on I said no more pasta, wine or pickles??
If you really look into the candida diet its worse than a gluten free diet. I would rather Hiccup than be on that. I have taken many steps to reduce my intake. I have also started a probiotic and a Kyolic supplement that helps with Candida. Unfortunately I started them at the same time so I don't know what is making me feel less bloated, and sick to my stomach. Now after a week of using these products I am feeling better, but I am not hiccup free. I am now noticing that once I eat or drink any milk product I hiccup. Now I will be focusing on that too. I just started to realize this with in the last few days.
I hope reading this will help someone.

Try cranberry pills!  I was able to Improve many of my stomach issues by taking 2–three times a day. After a while I had to cut down to two times a day because they were keeping me awake at night, probably from the vitamin C. It creates an inhospitable environment for yeast and bacteria. After a month I started to notice a huge difference, and found I was able to re-introduce many foods I haven’t been able to eat in years. My skin and allergies also improved. I had rosacea, SIBO & Candida overgrown from untreated thyroid issues & too many antibiotics I think. Once I started medication and probiotics it helped, but nothing got rid of it, until I started taking cranberry. I tried everything! I have Also spent an unknown amount of money on tests and doctors.  The only thing that has worked has been the cranberry pills.
Also, it seems every time I used the “and” symbol it did that weird thing in the text, my apologies it didn’t look like that when I typed it only after I posted. I’m having trouble with the text box.

Hello.  So I had the hiccup/burp thing really bad a few years ago, and still do rarely.  It took a long time to figure out, but for me the entire issue came from swallowing air while eating and drinking.  It's kind of difficult for some reason, I had to really concentrate for a while, but I foundd that if I fully exhaled before taking drinks or bites of food and didn't inhale until after I swallowed, the issue pretty much ceased.  Today I get the problem still, but when I slow down I can tell that I was eating/drinking to fast and sometimes inhaling while chewing.

I have been experiencing these hiccup burps for about 6 months now. It stated suddenly one day I assumed it would just go away but instead it has gotten far worse over time. The burps are typically more frequent after I eat quickly, in large amounts, or consume highly processed or sugary foods. I can control them ever so slightly to reduce the sound but when I am in public and I hold them in for too long I start to feel a horrible pain (I describe it as an expanding brick) in my upper left quadrant that usually lasts for about an hour and is resolved with a massive hiccup-belch-squawk. I have tried different combinations of prilosec but nothing seems to provide much improvement. In the past month I began to have severe stomach or "poop cramps" along with it as well as bad gas. After leaving school (I'm 17 and a senior in high school) a few times due to embarrassment and/or pain I finally scheduled a GI appt. He informed me that my chronic burping was caused by constipation and gave me an intense "cleanse" as treatment. I didn't fully trust his diagnosis but I did the cleanse anyways (it was miserable, it's the same thing that you have to do before a colonoscopy if anyone can relate). This resolved the cramping almost entirely but the burping has remained consistent (and by consistent I mean around 100 times a day) despite the treatment I endured.

I read the entire thread before this and I see a trend of relieved people who are glad not to be the only one, but not many solutions. Has anyone had any significant improvement that they would care to share? I'm sure we would all greatly appreciate anything anyone has to offer.

I am 14 and in one week exactly I will have had these hiccup burps for 1 year, this usually occurs after I have eaten and is very embarrassing as the burps are very loud and disgusting. I get a slight discomfort and I get laughed at, they randomly appeared out of nowhere. when they first started it was very constant maybe 3 a minute I was put on a number of medications and after about 6 month one started to ease it but not for long they have returned but not quite as bad 1 month ago I was sent to have a camera down my throat and tomorrow I will find out the results and hopefully get some answers!

Also correcting my magnesium deficiency also got rid of my GERD, burning throat at night, and that ulcer-y feeling of a burning pain. I forgot all about those things it's been so long. Also helps to get rid of processed foods like mega-corporation crackers, thins, etc. Those are horrific for GERD.
