What are the dangers of having "High Liver Enzimes"? If your liver is healthy and your thyroid is working well? Other than Pagets Desease.

              NO HEPATITIS FOUND

Arthor, your wife died? Was she under a doctors care? I am assuming she was cause you said she had these symptoms.I am so sorry for your loss. I can't understand though why the doctors didnt help her..
I have a rare liver disorder called polycystic liver disease where my liver makes these fluid filled cysts.. I had a very large one deroofed in Nov. of last year. My enzymes were still high, after the surgery. Not excessively so, but still not normal. The heptalogist said that some things there are no answers for. I did have 3 liver biopsies done and at the time no hepatitis was found.
I guess the liver is an organ that requires a lot of expertise to diagnose the many diseases..I live with the fear of this huge cyst filling up again and there is no way to drain it other than surgery. They have to take part of the skin off the top of it..
Again ,sorry for your loss, Arthor.

I think high liver enzymes are really a symptom.  In other words, they can be released into the blood stream when the liver is inflammed for some reason.  (I think there are other causes, too, concerning muscle injury).  So, in a sense, they are not the cause of a problem, but the sign of a problem.  I would have it checked out.  They can be temporarily elevated during illness.  But, if they are elevated long term, it may be chronic illness and should be investigated.  How do you know your liver is healthy?  Have you had a liver biopsy?
