I have had elevated liver enzymes for the past 5 years. Within the last 6 months, one of them, jumped up and doubled. I also have an autoimmune disease. My serum
copper is pretty high as well. My new doctor was concerned about the liver enzyme being pretty high and wants to keep an eye on it. If they go any higher, I'll be looking at a liver biopsy. I DO have sluggish gallbladder which has gotten a lot worse over these last 6 months. He didn't think it was related. He tends to think that it is either a reaction
to one of the meds that I'm taking, lamictal, or being caused by my autoimmune disease. He's not the first doc to say that autoimmune hepatitis might be in my future.
Why would my copper be so high? I was thinking that maybe since the liver is being compromised by a toxin or antibodies, that it's not absorbing or breaking the copper down like it should.
