Hopeless

I need a solution to my problem. nothing I take or do helps. My symptons are:  I have thick foamy saliva coming in my throat 24/7. I think it is coming from my stomach up thru my throat. I do not have heartburns, upset stomache or any other symptoms. I am constantly trying to cough and clear my throat all the times. As soon as I clear my throat a little I can feel it coming back in my throat. It interferes with eating, drinking, and talking. Help! [Less]

Just to add to the above: if it is acid reflux, then excess acid may be caused by Helicobacter pylori infection, which, again, can be without any other symptoms. Diagnosis is with urea breath test or blood test and treatment is with antibiotics. So, if you decide for acid-lowering drugs and these won't help. consider a test for H. pylori.

Thick, foamy saliva can be a sign of acid reflux even if you're not having the other 'standard' symptoms of reflux. And the feeling of constantly needing to clear your throat may either be due to reflux, or in some instances a food intolerance. In many that intolerance could be due to dairy products. If you're eating/drinking dairy, you might consider cutting it out and see what happens. If nothing changes, you may want to check with your doc and try a course of acid suppression meds and a change in diet to see if it modifies your symptoms.
