How serious is blood on Stools?

I woke this morning with stomach pain. I went to the Bathroom and out it came. I noticed that they looked red for some reason. when I wiped I saw more red . it wasn't A bright red , more like a dark color red that cover the stool. So it is something that is not on the edge but inside. I am scared I hope this is not as bad as it seems?

if it is a bright red it could be fissure or hemorrides, but if it is a darker red it could be intestional bleeding.

Well I went Again and I noticed my stool only have blood on one side and the blood was completely red- bright red. I think It might be fissure because it stings when I go.

If you type in rectal bleeding to google and click on one of the many sites (the Medicinenet site is particularly informative) then you will discover a number of causes of rectal bleeding.

Do seek medical advice.  Unless your doctor can confirm that the cause is one of the minor ones (e.g. anal fissure, haemorrhoids etc) then I suggest you request a colonoscopy.
