How to find a doctor that does unsedated colonoscopies?

Before anyone asks "Why would you want to do this?" etc., I've done my research quite a bit on the topic.  I feel that if a person wants to be sedated for this procedure, they should be allowed that.  I also feel that I should be allowed to have it unsedated.

The problem is, how do I find someone to do it?  I've called around to multiple doctors and all say that they will not do it unsedated.  I'm in Illinois, about an hour from St. Louis.  Any advice on how to find a doctor?

First, let me tell you I'm glad you have found us here on the Gastroenterology Community here on MH (MedHelp).  

I'm sorry you're having so much trouble finding a Doctor to do your surgery without an anesthetic.  I have a feeling that you won't find anyone that is going to do it without SOME sort of anesthetic because of the possibility of you jeering (uncontrollably) in pain should they hit something that hurts. PLUS, the fact that they might need to biopsy a polyp or an area and they would want you to be pain free for that.  That being said, I think what you need to ask for is a lite anesthetic or a local anesthetic.  I've had it both ways, where I was awake and where I was asleep.  If they find something that needs investigating, the procedure could take much l9 Germany than first anticipated and the Doctor's need to protect themselves in case of the unforseen.  Hence, SOME sort of anesthetic.  You need to make and appt. and go in and talk with him/her and find out your options.  Explain to them why you want it without the anesthetic and hopefully, you can come to an agreement somewhere in between.  :)
