I have been hungry constantly (can't fill my appetite) since March 2009. Food sometimes make the hunger go away briefly. The hunger is sometimes painfulPainful menstrual periods too. I have done blood work (to check for diabetes, my thyroid etc) - everything is good. I've also checked for ulcers - I'm good there too. I'm 22 years old, weigh 164 and I'm 6' 2". I usually eat regularRegular insulin, well-balanced meals. Since the hunger started, I've been eating a lot more - sometimes when I'm eating the hunger stops, but it returns in full force as soon as I'm done eating. I've been eating 5 BIG meals every day and can't gain any weight. Sometimes I can eat upwards of two pounds without stopping! Hungry all day, when I wake up, when I go to sleep.
I've seen three physicians, no one has been able to help. It's very frustrating. Should I see some kind of specialist or am I seeing the wrong doctors? Does anyone know anything about this? I saw the post from someone who has had this condition for 12 years - I've only had it for a few months and it's already driving me crazy. I'm DESPERATE!
Would an appetite suppressant work (or is that totally nuts)?
