I JUST WANT TO FEEL GOOD, and GO ON WITH MY LIFE!

Dear Dr. Pierce,
I am seeking advice online because I have been very sick for far to long!
Having been diagnosed with Gastropaesis, after what seemed like every test conceivable; I am still suffering daily with inability to eat properly, constantly nauseas , always starving ,(like, famished in Africa) even after a meal.????  I have been on Reglan which (coincidental or not) has put an end to the daily vomiting.  I've lost  atleast 50lbs., vomited for two years straight...  losing all the bile in my stomach as nothing else was there.    As soon as I eat anything, I feel full; 10-30 mins. later, famished again.  When I get up in the morning, I am to weak to get up and get my own food, along with to sick; from what seems to me, hunger.  Because Im not vomiting any longer ... (have been on promethazine and zofran and such) for years.  W/o it I still get sick.  But, because of a diagnoses and the profuse vomiting has stopped,  at a standstill.  It seems acceptable that I "feel nauseas and starving all the time). I  often wonder if it's safe to be on anti-nausea medicine for so long?
I am not looking for more than direction of where to turn next?  I'm at my wits end.  My three adult children also suffer as they worry about me, ie. cancer etc.  I sincerely hope, and PRAY that you can give me some suggestions.  Dr.Watters referred me to you.  Sincerely, Julie

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there!

Well, without a detailed clinical evaluation it would be difficult to comment on the situation. Aside GI causes similar symptoms could also develop due to hormonal/ endocrine/ metabolic issues, micronutrient deficiencies, medication side effect, chronic poisoning, psychological causes etc. I would suggest considering an evaluation by an internist to rule out other likely possibilities responsible for the situation. Gastroparesis as such is largely managed medically with diet modification and medications. It would be best to have this evaluated by a gastroenterologist for suggestion of an appropriate management plan.
Hope this helps.

Take care!
