Please help me with an answer to a question regarding Barretts EsophagusBarrett’s esophagus Esophageal cancer Esophageal perforation Esophagitis Esophagus Esophagus and stomach anatomy. I have had two different Drs. Both concur that I have Baretts, but the one I went to in Illinois initially and who diagnosed me, said that Baretts is always there and never goes away. I have since moved to Georgia and the Dr. here did my follow up endoscopicErcp exams yearly and a couple of years ago said I don't need to be re-checked. Can this be ??? I am worried as I haven't been checked out for 3 years now and I am noticing alot of mucus and a hard time swallowingPainful swallowing Swallowing difficulty now. I have had the Nissen Fundoplycation about 10 yrs ago and it helped alot, except I cannot regurgitate.
i also have barretts. My doctor Told me to come back in 1 year to get it checked. It was at that time very small area. Him saying you don't need this checked for 3 years is downright nuts. Your hard time swallowing could be that all you need is your esaphagus stretched. This is a minor procedure, I have had this done. But DO GET YOUR BARRETTS CHECKED! Tell him you do not wish to wait.
Keep us posted,
God Bless
