I have been diagnosed with Dumping Syndrome, but have never had any kind of stomach surgery.

I was diagnosed with Dumping syndrome earlier this year after going through a year of all kinds of tests due to feelings of extreme Nausea and cramping (occasionally followed by Vomiting). I went off food because it was always after eating that i felt sick and started feeling really down becaue of it. It is so horrible feeling that sick day in, day out! It's not just a small feeling of sick - it actually feels like you are going to be sick - but it was only on a few occasions that i was sick.
After 3 or 4 months of my GP's tests and no diagnosis he refered me to a specilist who tested me for literally everything, i had to endure a camera down my throat to look in to my stomach (although under sedation so not so bad) and a tube up my nose for a Barium Enema.....absolutely horrendous! As well as sooooo many blood tests and Urine samples etc.
My Specialist finally said he thought it was Dumping Syndrome earlier this year and when he listed the symptoms etc. everything just seemed to slot in to place.
I had been feeling feint recently and had even fainted for the 1st time in my life a few months before. I had started to perspire a lot more which was bothering me as i had never been a sweaty person before. I always wanted to sleep.....which was the most bizarre thing for me as i have never really been a good sleeper or felt sleepy in the day time. I had put it down to my new job as i am now a sales rep so am driving a lot so thought it was just wearing me out, but it is very extreme at times where i just have to pull over and have a sleep or close my eyes for a while as i literally can't keep them open - even when i have just had a full nights sleep!

I was referred to a Dietician who told me to follow a low GI diet etc. and recomended food to stear clear of and good foods to eat. I have felt much better ever since. I still have bouts of Nausea, cramping and dizziness and am still tired, but no where near as much.

The thing is that on all medical advice sites and books etc. it says Dumping Syndrome is caused by stomach surgery - which i have never had - it was just like a switch had been flicked with me as it just mysteriously stared one day! - I would love to know how usual it is for someone to have this condition having had no surgery like me.
