Hello im new here, i have had a pain under my left ribcage for about a month it comes and goes, abdominal pain, now i have been having constipation, and when i do go i have light brown tarry stools and when i flush the tolet i can see red spots
blade, i used to feel very bloated but now its going away, feeling sort of sick latly too (might be from all the worrying) and for the last 3 days my rectum has been having a dull pain, sort of like a burning.
i went to 3 different doctors and they all told me its not cancer or anything serius like that, so they did a bacterial blood test and two of them were all good and one of them there seeing if theres a h pylori
infection and if i have GERD, and i have a upper gi serius xray.
now with my symptoms you would think they would have more concern and maybe they would give me more tests.
anyways im just very scared becasue my symptoms seem to be the exact same as colon cancer...im 19, and i thought i was pretty healthy but apperently not with all of this going on.
What should i do?.....do you have any clue on what this might be?
do any of you have the same symptoms?....i just feel the doctors don't care....
Hello! I know how scary it can be,I went through same thing 8 months ago ,and had colonscopy(no cancer) also had appendcitis in oct 2006 and now gallbladder issues (another surgery)
Your pain/symptoms could be anything, but dont always mean it is serious or cancer.I'm not a doctor ,but your only 19,and cancer is unlikely. If your symptoms persist then a colonscopy is wise to rule out other disorders
,and a colonscopy isnt really bad.Your rectum burning is probably from constipation, but dont do a laxative without your dr's ok.In meantime for constipation gradually increase fiber (not to much all at once) and alot of fluids, and try a stool softner (with your dr's ok)Hope your find an answer and start to feel better,Prayers!

I think an x-ray would show a tumor, and if I'm not mistaken they can see signs of cancer in blood workups, too. You need to have the upper GI series as well as the lower. You may just have a bad case of gastritis or possibly an ulcer.
If you don't think your doctors are taking your problems seriously, get new ones.
And I know it's easy for me to say, but I know from experience that worrying has a profound effect on your stomach.
I am 27 years old female and am having a hard time keeping anything dowm. I can not produce a bowel movement, However when I finally am able to, It is not regular and I have massive amounts of pain in left side of my stomach. I have cut my diet in half and have lost 25 pounds in 3 months due to this. I am in pain 8 hours after I eat anything for 2 hours. My stomach seems bloated during these 2 hours. The pain makes me curl up into a ball and cry my eyes out. I am very scared, I went to the doctor to day.. finally got somebody to listen. I have tooken laxitives like they are candy, I have took everystep to try and fix this myself eating no foods high in fat, I have become a veggie head. I just pray that it is not what I think it is. Any comments would be helpful.

I agree you need a colonoscopy. Irritable Bowel Disease, either Crohn's Disease or Ulcerative Colitis, can cause the symptoms you are having and both conditions usually start to appear in teenage years. I have Crohn's Disease and my symptoms began at age 16. I can remember going to the ER with bloody diarrhea, being told it was just gastroenteritis and to leave stool samples. Well, my stool samples never show anything, even when I am having a flare up of my disease so, what good does that do? I too had a GI series x-ray, the small bowel follow through and it was normal, even though I have ulcers and erosions in the small bowel. My H. Pylori test was negative, but I do have GERD. Sometimes, certain tests come up normal, that doesn't mean that something isn't wrong. For example, I was having bad back pain and my MD just did an x-ray and said there was nothing wrong. Now, my x-ray report was normal. I work as a Medical Assistant and switched PCP's when I got a new job. I asked my new PCP for a MRI which came up with a disk herniation, disk bulge, and stenosis in my facet joints (degenerative arthritis). I went for steroid injections which have worked great. Imagine what would have happened had I listened to that first MD and not my own body telling me something wasn't right. For the longest time my diagnosis was Ulcerative Colitis, even my colon biopsies said I had Ulcerative Colitis, my regular GI doctor kept me on the same treatment even though I kept saying I didn't feel right. I've had every x-ray, every blood test, ultrasounds, MRI's, CT scans, colonoscopies, sigmoidoscopies...none of those tests showed Crohn's Disease. A couple months ago I changed GI's, and my new GI had me swallow the camera pill, and sure enough, my small bowel was full of ulcers and erosions, Crohn's. If I hadn't done that one test, I never would have had the correct diagnosis. This new GI was the one who ordered all these new tests that the old GI never had any intention on doing. Sometimes you see an MD that is not a bad person, just not the right fit for you. Heck, I saw two neurologists about my severe muscle cramps, both of which did nothing and basically told me to deal with it. One of the MD's I work with sent me to a neurologist a little further away, about an hour north, and this MD gave me a medication which has basically cured my cramps. See 10 doctors if that is what it takes until you get some answers.
