Im very nervouse. I have ulcerative colitus. I dont know if the drug will help me or hurt me. I am not at the end of my rope with this disease. In fact, I have been managing it quite well with asulfazine (8 tablets a day), 6mp (100 mg a day), prednisone (10mg a day), and 2 tablets a prilosec a day (I've heard that the mixing of prilosec and remicade might not work, i was just wondering if that was true or not). I dont know if the drug has more side effects than bennifets for me or if its safe
My doctor wants me to start it but ive been researching it and it doesnt seem to be right for me. But i dont know all there is to know about it either.
It can be an extremely wonderful medication for some. Yes there can be side-effects and drawbacks, but the same thing is possible for each and every medication that's taken. If you have hesitations about this medication, and if you feel that you're doing okay on your current meds, I'd suggest you sit down and have a very frank talk with your doc.
Many docs participate in studies and will switch their patients over to new meds if they're actively participating in the study and feel it will be beneficial for the patient. However, from what I understand, remicade should really be used as a 'last resort' type of medication - when all other choices have been exhausted.
You need to talk this through - air your concerns.
