I think I have an ulcer!

by JaimeK, Nov 02, 2002 12:00AM
Hello!
Is there anyone who knows anything about ulcers?
I've been trying for weeks to figure out what was going on with this stomach pain I've been having. I thought it was related to an ongoing pancreas/gallbladder problem or my hiatal hernia.
(yes, i have it all)  The most intense pain is in the middle of the night when I have been sleeping on my back or the first thing in the morning with the first bite of food.  The pain is relieved when I either turn over and sleep on my stomach or by eating something.  Also, the other day, I had something caught in my throat and I was coughing a lot and the pain started.
I'm already on Aciphex for reflux.  I'm going to see my gastroenterologist in 3 weeks for my other "issues" but I don't know what I should be doing in the meantime.  Any ideas??
Thanks so much!
Jaime:)

Hi

Can't be a lot of help to your query i'm afraid but the symptoms you are suffering are exactly the same as i have been experiencing for about 6 months now. Mine are related to my hiatus hernia, I suppose the symptoms are pretty similar with an ulcer but what you describe is an exact copy of my own troubles. I can't offer any advice really as I am taking antacids every days while awaiting further appointments with the hospital. Concerning the pain whilst in bed, I found that sleeping on my stomach for a few nights helped considerably, and also the well known advice of sleeping elevated.

Good luck to you
