I was told I have GERD and am taking meds

Around 4am every morning, I wake up "gagging" sometimes it causes me to throw up a clear liquid numerous times at the same episode....other times it causes me to throw up whatever I ate during the day. Today for example, within about an hour after eating....my "gagging" caused me to vomit the clear liquid followed by what I ate and then about a half after that...my "gagging" caused me throw up again, guess the remainder of what I ate. I then start sweating...up until recently it seemed the "gagging" would go away after initial vomiting...but now it seems I get 3 or 4 episodes a day including at my pt job....I have been diagnosed with diverticulosis back 2000 but I never had this "gagging" until about 4/2010....any ideas what it might be, cuz I really don't think it is GERD, as I don't have heart burn when this happens...and it seems the "gagging" brings on the vomiting, etc....
