If gallbladder's not working, where does bile go?

If gallbladder's not working, where does bile go?

I just had a HIDA scan which showed an ejection fraction of 0%. If my gallbladder is not contracting at all, then did the stuff they injected (radioctive tracer and CCK) just eventually drip slowly into the intestines? Did it just get absorbed by the bloodstream and pass into the urine? I'm really just wondering where my bile is going if my gallbladder is not squeezing it out. Is my bile dripping very slowly into my intestines? Is my gallbladder just kind of storing the bile and letting it sit there?

The role of the gallbladder is to "thicken" the watery bile from the liver and to store it there temporarily.  It's important for it to retain it's "elasticity", in order to be able to "expel" the stored bile.  When this is lost, it becomes more of a problem for folk rather than a "useful" organ.

So, with that being said, the bile continues to go where it normally does, which is into the intestine, where it continues to help break down fatty foods.
