Imodium and Hiatal Hernia

Imodium and Hiatal Hernia

My brother had a mesh installed in his abdomen 10 years ago for a hernia.

In the past few months he has been suffering from diarrhea, or loose bowels, and we have been giving him imodium (immodium) on a daily basis.  Is there any danger to his mesh lining or his intestines in general from the imodium (immodium)?  Could there be a connection between the loose bowels and the hernia?  Someone told me he could die from having imodium (immodium) and hernia related problems.

Thanks.  Very Concerned.
