some food years later, a second barium, speech evaluation - hiatal hernia and slowed motility. EGD finding very little narrowing, dilated, and a patch of tissue in the esophagus biopsied and benign. Surgeon/GI specialist aren't extremely worried about this patch. Manometry to test for achalasia which was negative. One comment was it didn't look like spasms for like quivering like motility was random is the only way I can explain it.
Have been on Protonix for years. Had been able to use maneuvers to get food down and only certain foods caused swallowing issues.
Suddenly a month ago, began having more difficulty with eating and swallowing with lots of foods and some drinks. Lots of pain with swallowing. Began having regurg at night and choking. Put on Norvasc which helped the pain. Began using 10 inch wedge which helps with the chocking at night. Still have the regurg though. I stop eating 3-4 hours before bedtime. Never hungry, always a feeling of fullness, eating much less and have lost weight.
Now being put on Reglan and awaiting GI specialists next move. Any suggestions, any ideas on what the issue may be in all this. Anyone who has experience this?
