Indigestion driving me nuts!

I have a problem that has haunted me for about three years now. I sometimes have "irritable bowel syndrome" where I will get stomach cramps and diarhea, then within 24 hours of the episode I will get several indigestion where I feel bloated, belching, cramping, pass gas. This will last for two to three days after each irritable bowel flare. I will take probiotics and that helps somewhat, but doesn't get rid of the problem all together. It sometimes gets so painful I take over the counter Gas-X and that doesn't take the problem away! I have mentioned this to my family doctor, but he has no idea and says that it is a sysmptom of irritable bowel, but he has not referred me to a gastro doctor yet. I have gone and had colonics done in an attempt to flush out any bad bacteria or parasites that could be causing this, but that just aggrevates the symptoms. I have tried digestive enzymes, which also help but don't elimated the problem completely. It seems like I have to eat a lot of food and take a lot of probiotics to get the "beasts" under control. Does this sound like a parasite problem? All I know is that I am in pain that will not allow me to enjoy life during these episodes. Can anyone offer a suggestion, because I am tired of the doctors looking at me like I a crazy!

It could be lactose intollerance. My mom is and has the same symptoms you mention. It could also be some other food intollerance/allergy like Celiac disease. IBD is another one. I would see a Gastro dr. and have a colonoscopy and endoscopy done. That will tell you what the problem may be.

Do you keep track of what you eat?
If it were lactose intolerance, there are tablets you can buy in store ,you take it before you eat anything which contains lactose which is a form of milk sugar.
There is also intolerance of milk protein, and anything which contains gluten.
Some folks cant handle curry, some cant handle mango, coconut.
