Intestinal & colon transit

by metromotor, Nov 18, 2008 09:00AM
I am wondering about how transit times through the digestive tract effect digestion and it's absorption. I have been diagnosed with delay gastric emptying, and still being worked up for other symptoms. I have peripheral neuropathy for a few years, non diabetic.  I get pains all through my digestive tract, and have had a substantial amount of weight loss (70) lbs since one year ago.

I noticed today, this morning  (yes I look at my poop) that there was some nuts in my stool that I ate last night as well as some carrots that I ate almost a week ago. So it would seem to me that there is some element of entrapment at some point?

I know that the intestines make churning motion to digest the food , then every now and then they will make a different kind of motion that sweeps the matter along briskly. I wonder if it is possible that with neurological issues, the signals are mixed up and uncoordinated where they sweep but don't churn at times and sometimes churn but doesn't sweep.

Does this make since to anyone ?
