Intestinal Gurgling/Shifting/Discomfort

Intestinal Gurgling/Shifting/Discomfort

I'm a 20 year old male with no real known health problems, tall and skinny.

Lately (since mid-January) I've felt/heard a lot of stomach gurgling.  At first I thought it was just the sounds of a hungry stomach.  But the sound comes even when I'm not hungry.  It feels like there's a lot of shifting down in my intestines, as if things are moving around or settling into place.  Sometimes it's loud enough to hear and sometimes not.  It happens throughout the day, most noticeably in the afternoons.  It seems like it might be getting worse.  I hadn't noticed an increase in gas or bowel movement frequency until the last couple of weeks.  Now I'll often feel something shift and then feel the need to let a silent one go to relieve the pressure.  The gas is getting bad.

Whether it pertains to this problem or not, I also have a hemorrhoid just like the one on wikipedia's hemorrhoid page.  It's also been acting up more this semester.  Lemme tell ya, going to classes is no fun when you're sitting on a hemorrhoid on a hard chair while worrying about if your intestines will decide to pipe up or about how much toxic gas you'll have to release if things shift down there.

I ate a bag of popcorn 2 hours before bed last night and pressure/shifting in my digestive tract kept me up for like an hour.  So I guess what I eat affects this problem.  That said, here's my generalized diet:

breakfast: Cheerios, Bran Flakes, or Instant Oatmeal
lunch: Usually a Ham Egg and Cheese sandwich, sometimes a burrito or canned soup or pasta
dinner: Frozen Dinners, Frozen Burritos, Chicken Alfredo from a Box, Mac & Cheese

and I often try (sometimes forget) to eat a cup of frozen veggies with my dinner.  This was more or less my diet last semester too, but I don't remember problems of this degree.

If anybody can help I'd really appreciate it.

Funny lately I have also been having similar gurlging intestinal sounds where I can hear it and sometimes feel the gas moving. I noticed mine about a month after I started dieting. I have been eating more healthier with lots more vegetables, less carbs, etc and I have not really figured out yet what food or foods causes it. My bowel movements are normal in size, color, and frequency. Also I think when I do hear some sounds it makes me wonder what is causing the sound and in turn that seems to sometimes makes me worried and get that butterfly in the stomach feeling, but when that happens and I get distracted with something else, I do not get the butterfly in the stomach feeling. So in a way it almost feels like a cycle for me. Very weird !!! I hope this helps. God Bless !!!
