Intestinal Metaplasia

Hi
I forgot to say I'm 34 years old 5´8 and weight is 250 pounds. How often should I have an endoscopy my Dr. says almost every 2 years?? And how often does Intestinal Metaplasia evolves in cancer?

Various studies say different things.  Those with intestinal metaplasia has a 1-2x increased risk for esophageal or stomach cancer, depending on where the metaplasia is.  

As for the surveillence course, it would depend on how severe the metaplasia is.  It can range anywhere from every 6 months to every 3 years.  The pathology report from your studies should guide the follow-up course.  

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
