Irritating pain on right side under my rib

by sculpture, Oct 20, 2009 10:19AM
I am a 25year old female,
I have been drinking since I was 16 but ive been drinking to excess for the last 6 years. I have been having a annoying pain on my right hand side under my ribs from the front to the back. I have told my GP and they took blood tests but the all came back fine. They also did a scan as they thought it might be gall stones, they couldnt see any gall stones and they said my liver looked normal. I am wondering what it could be then, I guess it has something to do with my drinking but im not sure. I have been reading what others have said about the same pain but most mention having a fatty liver caused by drinking alcohol -would the doctor that scanned me not have seen if my liver had excess fat? I have had the pain for probibly about 2 years, but the doctors dont seem to be very concerned. Do i just get on with it,if it continues do i get the same tests done again?I dont want to seem like im wasting the doctors time again especially if all the tests come back fine again? I wouldnt want to ignore it because they say im fine and then find out i have done bad damage to my liver.
